History of St Mary's Catholic Primary School, Euxton

The current school building was opened on 22nd May 1965, although we know that there has been a Catholic school in Euxton for over 175 years. In preparation for the school’s golden jubilee in 2015 the school prepared a successful bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund to research into our school’s history. Mrs Lee (the deputy head) and Mrs Langford (historical researcher) over the last two years have explored the school’s heritage, through tailored historical research and a range of exciting activities with the children. Many thousands of children have been educated at St.Mary's over the years and we have discovered so many memories, photographs and tales from the past to compile a commemorative booklet, the result of our work. In the booklet you can read how the Catholic community of Euxton was educated in the past and it provides a lasting memory for generations to come.
